Memory Diag App Reviews

I’d rather have FreeMemory back!

I used FreeMemory before this replacement app came about that forced it’s use on me. I loved FreeMemory; it was simple, did what it said. This new ‘replacement’ for FreeMemory constantly throws dialog boxes up on my screen, is very diifficult to set it to not pop up on a restart, and is nowhere as easy to use as FreeMemory. It is so annoying that I’m looking for a replacement. In fact, I’m deleting this annoying ad-driven application. Not having any memory manager is better than this app. Giving it a “2” is generous…..

Works Great

It works great just as described. Much quicker to check on memory usage than opening Activity Monitor. Optimization really cuts down how much memory is being used. This is very useful on my older macs with limited memory. Price is right.

Never better!

This is the best cleaning app for Mac!

super good

idk what people are talking about with constant popups because i have had this app for like months maybe a year and i only just now got my first popup which was just asking if i enjoy the app or not which is essential for developing/maintaining a good app by getting user input and opinions so idk some people are just whiney wendys anyways the app is super awesome it works awesome im a major gamer and it makes my mac run super fast (: lol

MUST HAVE!

If you need to manage your memory usage, expecially if you have 8gb or less, this is a MUST HAVE. Click OPTIMIZE and it cleans up the unused memory and frees up RAM.

Amazing Application

- Very Clean Design (Amazing on OS X El Capitan) - Amazing Animations - Amazing Data (I know exactly what’s being used by what) - Good Amount of Options All in one, this is better than any memory cleaning software i’ve used.

A definite keeper

Run a lot of apps that use a temendous amount of memory then often don’t release it when shutting down. A quick run of memory monitor restores things to normal. Great app.

Essential

With each OS X update, memory demands increase. Just updating Garageband took up 13G of RAM on my MBP with nothing else running. Fans ramp up, and the laptop gets too hot for the lap. Memory Cleaner helps by removing the ever increasing loads of rubbish left behind by OS X and various apps. Free and very handy to have around.

easy to use

app is simple and works great

Awesome

Does what it says it does, perfectly :D

Hand App

Very useful in monitoring memory use, especially if you are a high end user of such. Can’t think of any way to improve it so have rated it with 5 stars.

Finally someone got it right!

I usually never bother writing reviews, but this app it perfectly made, allowing you to create a keyboard shortcut to clear memory. Thank you!

Buggy Download

Latest update buggy & won’t finish downloading according to Launchpad icon greyed out even though program runs well!

Works as advertised

Works as advertised, displays memory info in a meaningful way. After upgrading to Mavericks I was upset that Apple had replaced the colourful pie chart in the Activity Monitor memory tab with a simple “Memory Pressure” graph that didn’t convey much to me. Memory Monitor (is it just my imagination or was it once called Memory Diag?) brings back that wonderful pie-chart view in real time, AND adds an OPTIMIZE button to boot (which Activity Monitor never had). Now HOW COOL IS THAT?!! I admit I am now rather obsessed with checking it every now and then, and OPTIMIZEing my memory when the CACHE (the blue segment) grows big. (It actually works, I had 38 apps open and closed them all, and it was able to clean up the cache really quickly.) All in all, great on a Mac with 8GB RAM, which is still quite a bit of legroom. Plus the app doesn’t have that big of a memory footprint. I actually installed this just for the Today View widget, which does okay if a little unexciting (compared to the menu bar item I mean). I wish the big pentacoloured donut chart could also be included in the Today View widget, then I could check my memory as well as OPTIMIZE without having to open the app.

A description of what the individual metrics mean.

I am surely not tech savy. I would like to know what compressed and wired memory are. Possibly hyperlink the five metrics describing what what they are and how they can be mitigated.

Great memory application

This small, unobtrusive app does exactly what it advertises - good map of memory usage, ability to optimize (to reduce memory demand) and shows what other apps are hogging memory. Sleek, clean design and excellent information - really like it.

Has a few bugs

Since I upgraded to El Capitan, my computer kept restarting for no reason, to the point where it would boot up and not even finish booting up before it would restart again! Annoying and frustrated as I was, I started the process of booting up in safe mode and deleting my boot up apps one by one until I found the culprit, and unfortunately, this app was it. Once I removed Memory Monitor I’ve had no issues with random restarts, and sleep mode works like it should again too. Obviously, there are some bugs to work out as I can’t even run it separately after I boot up, as it triggers random restarts. This is too bad because up until then, it was a fantastic working app and I loved using it. Unfortunately, now it sits in the Applications folder, unable to use until this problem is resolved. Please fix so I can use your wonderful app again. Thank you.

It works!

Great to see applications that actually do what they claim they do!

Goof application

The interface is very nicely-done!; it is easy to use and also nice looking.

Almost perfect!

As mentioned by a reviewer of the previous version, this is a very nice app but it still has something missing. It would be just about perfect if it would show the memory usage of the apps using the most memory. Currently it only shows the apps but does not indicate how much memory each is actually using. For that I have to open a separate app, which is a pain. In any case this app is certainly worth the money. I recommend it.
